Resourcing joy

Finding some of the joy and wonder we experienced as a kid (or hoped to experience as a kid)

Our Framework

Hello, joy, my old (or new) friend.

Hi, joy. Let’s get to know each other.

Joy lives within you. It’s part of who you are.

At repairenting, when we talk about resourcing joy, we mean showing up to pause and recognize the experience of joy within us. Because the more that we can practice pausing and recognizing joy, the more fluent we can become noticing joy in everyday life. How do we do this? One way is through the following guided meditation on joy. Enjoy!

(Hey there, joy! We’ve got this day, together.)

Let’s resource joy together. Check out this guided meditation where we get to practice resourcing joy.

What’s in a word?

Celebrating “No”

Your repairenting team has a saying that we use often: “We celebrate your ‘no’.”

You may see this in our website. You’ll probably hear it if you attend a repairenting event. You even hear this if you’re one of our children.

We celebrate your no. Because if we can trust in your no, we can trust in your yes. And we really want to trust your yes.

When this comes to our kids, trusting their no doesn’t mean that they get what they want. (Yes, toddler, you do need a bath tonight after playing in the dirt all afternoon.) But we do want to know what their experience is. Because if we can better understand their experience, we may find ways to give them choices and meet their need to be understood, have autonomy, and respect. (I hear you don’t want to take a bath tonight. I wonder if you’re feeling happy playing in the dirt and want to keep playing? You can have 5 more minutes playing in the dirt, then you can have a short bath or long bath–your choice. Ooh, think your rubber duck will want to get really wet or just a little wet today?)
